i just plucked a tick out of my own scalp.
i took todd to school, came back home, scratched my head, and found a lump. i ran my fingers over it... and there was no sensitivity. non-scalp, foreign object. and of course it's at the very back of my head. and of course todd will be gone for four hours, so he couldn't get it for me. and webmd said not to wait.
i rigged a system of mirrors to try and see the back of my head. i saw it-- definitely a tick. (ewwww.... seeing bug attached to me!!!) between balancing two mirrors and wielding pointy tweezers, i hope i grabbed it by its mouth and not its body. and i hope its whole head came with it.
a few weeks ago, on a walk through a forest preserve with the sheranians, kristen told me about her fear of getting a tick and how she sometimes asks her husband to check her scalp after she's been in a wooded area. i had never even thought about ticks.
but now there's a nasty little bug bagged in our freezer, lest he gave me a disease and he's needed for identification in the future. i named him hugo.
i am SO grossed out right now.

Welcome to Virginia!! (aka tick-ville) I never would have thought to freeze it though...very smart Riss!
When we lived in VA we would always play in the woods and pulling ticks out was like a weekly occurrence. So gross. I cant' believe you pulled it out by yourself. I would have thrown up.
You're lucky it was in your head, I have had WAY worse. Haha, but yeah, pretty gross huh? Virginia is the best!
Um that's disgusting. And I didn't know VA is suppose to be tick town!
