beach week

 one big perk of moving to virginia and having some time off was that we were able to go to todd's mom's family reunion on the outer banks... only about 4.5 hours away from charlottesville. it was so nice to spend an entire week doing basically whatever we felt like. we had tons of fun, so i have a bunch of pictures!
we went to the beach basically every morning. the water was usually plenty warm for swimming, but there were a few mornings it was numbingly cold. dave's face in this picture says it all-- WHOA cold.

they debated whether the water was too cold for swimming... but in the end, a little cold didn't stop most of the guys from riding the waves.

you can't so much tell, but todd was pretty far from the shore (walking on a sand bar) and the waves were pretty big.

even in perfect conditions, there's almost no chance i'll be going in the ocean. so i spent lots of time playing on the beach. parker had similar feelings-- water? nope!

 

parker and hayden (nephews) played in the sand with cousin noah. how cute is noah and his sandy little bum?

taylor didn't like the water much, either. daddy blake and uncle brad built her a little pool, but she disliked being dirty or wet. i like this girl :)
