First Week in Copenhagen

First dinner on our mini roof deck.

Our first full week in Copenhagen was mostly spent sick. Todd was still getting over whatever he picked up in England. Then I got sick with one thing on Friday and something else on Saturday on top of that. It's a crime to be sick in Europe when there's beautiful weather!

Todd started his 'new' job this week. He's enjoyed getting to know a bunch of new people. His first project is in performance management, where he's figuring out what to measure, how to measure it, and how to communicate the data to executive management for their decision making.

I got back to work this week, as well. Returning to the regular routine is really helping me not to feel homesick. Judging from my experience when we first moved to Raleigh, it's hard to be in a new place with no sense of purpose and nothing to do.

We ventured out Saturday morning to the bakery for breakfast and a walk around Rosenborg Slot and Strøget before I was too tired to go on. We sat in the park at Rosenborg and talked about our first week. We've realized how we took certain things for granted about life at home, like understanding cultural norms or knowing where to buy things.

We went to our ward for the first time on Sunday. As suspected, the meetings were in Danish and we had to wear headsets. I gained a whole new sympathy for people who regularly listen to translations of church meetings--that is just no way to live!
