Krasons in København

August 25:

The Krasons came to visit! We love these friends, and we love that they can fly for free and visit us--so far they've visited us in every place we've lived except Raleigh! (Put that on your list, guys.)

The day they arrived, we went shopping on Strøget, where I introduced Kirsten to Tiger (like a dollar store, but way better) and she found my new favorite store, Søstrene Grene (like Tiger, but way better).

The second day of their trip, we took a GPS bike tour through the city and lived to tell about it. I now completely understand why Copenhageners all bike-- it's absolutely the best way to get anywhere. You can cross the whole city in like 15 minutes.

The most "interesting" part of the tour was a stop in Christiania, the hippie commune that claims to be a separate state where hash is sold in the open and the police turn a blind eye. First time I've ever seen illegal drugs, I think.

We took them to Dyrehaven and the Eremitage Palace, then to Bellevue Beach. These two checked "swim in the Baltic" off their bucket lists while Kirsten and I hung out on the pier. Look how clear the water is! I couldn't believe that. And it's not even as cold as the Pacific... this time of year, anyway!

Kirsten and I toured Christiansborg Palace while Todd and Josh got doused in beer at an FC København game. (I stole half these pictures from Josh, who is a far more conscientious photographer than the rest of us. Thanks, Josh!)

Our city is so much more fun with old friends!
