so long, chicagoland!

before moving to chicago, i had no desire to ever so much as visit the place. but as we leave this stage of our lives for the next, i realize there are many things i will miss about chicagoland.

our route to plum tree road in barrington hills

i love the beautiful chicago skyline and all the lake shore parks, nature areas, and historic places. i could spend all day there and not get bored—even just driving around is really fun. i never would have guessed how beautiful chicagoland would be. we have found a few places we just love-- we drove old sutton road to barrington hills almost every sunday and walked through spring valley about once a week.

i will also miss the storms. in the midwest, it will be sunny one minute and literally pouring buckets the next minute. the thunderstorms roll on for miles and miles, with inky blue clouds and thunderclaps that shake buildings. unfortunately, they often come with tornadoes. but we didn’t experience any of those.

probably the thing i will miss the most are the places where parts of our own little family history happened.

todd's first *real* job

where todd lived before we were married / where i lived when we were engaged, while he stayed in the shady extended-stay hotel (NOT pictured) / where we lived for the first two months after we were married. coolest address numbers ever-- 1234, #321.
