48 hours in ithaca

on our way to ithaca, we had a layover in newark, new jersey. we saw the statue of liberty from the air-- i've never been to new york city, so this view was awesome!

we flew to ithaca on this little bombardier. the flight was far more pleasant than i expected. please note the miniature control tower and lack of gate or terminal. it just sort of parked on the runway. the ithaca airport was about the size of a large post office.

we spent all the time we could playing with this adorable little guy, canon. we loved him.

kristen and nate showed us two of ithaca's many waterfalls. they weren't completely frozen, even though the highest temperature when we were there was 18 degrees!

the main reason for our visit was todd's interview at cornell's johnson school.
the business building, sage hall, is beautiful!

and something i didn't take pictures of...

on the first leg of our flight home (on the bombardier)  todd had me sit by the window, which i never do. i got to watch the city lights go by for 40 minutes at only 12,000 feet. i loved it. and todd pointed out all sorts of things to keep me from noticing the bouncing and sway of the plane-- like watching the wheels (which were right outside my window underneath the wing) touch down on the runway. and he is always willing to let me talk at him incessantly (nervous habit) and tries to ask questions about my instyle magazine. whenever turbulence hit, even slightly, he would lift his arm to let me slide mine underneath and hold on tight.

when we got to philadelphia, the little bombardier was sent to a terminal in the far reaches of the airport... so close to the runways, it was incredible! we had checked a bag for plane-side pickup, and todd purposely took his sweet time getting our bag so i could sit outside and watch the planes land for as long as possible.

thanks to honey, flying isn't so bad these days. i love him.

It looks like you guys had a great trip! I wish I could've been there...seriously, it has been way too long since I've seen you guys! So, you two will be leaving Chicago this summer? Any ideas where you'll go? I guess you're waiting to hear back from school, huh? Any interviews in Virginia? Keep me posted!

What a fun trip! Those waterfalls are gorgeous! I hope you hugged and kissed baby Canon for me too, he is so darling! And I love that you are surviving all the plane rides these days! :)

Well done with the flying. You're becoming a regular trooper. I love flying to Newark although I don't get out there often. You really need to pass on some of this love for watching planes to my wife. It would come in handy! Great pictures. It pays to have a nice camera. You can really tell the difference.

It looks like so much fun. I wish we could have been there. Too bad Todd does not have any school interviews in South Jordan so you could come visit us.
