Wilmington

Every year, the youth from the surrounding stakes have a dance on the deck of the USS North Carolina in Wilmington. We went to chaperone, and thought we'd probably be assigned to a certain area and just make sure the kids were safe and there was no funny business. No, no. There were no assignments, no entrance/exit security, the kids were free to roam nearly anywhere on the massive ship (like 10 decks!), and we were on a metal ship during a lightning watch. Basically it was a huge disaster/lawsuit waiting to happen. Luckily, nothing went majorly wrong.

Almost no dancing took place, which is apparently normal. The ship was so big, we couldn't even find the dance for the first half! We spent most of the time roaming the decks, just walking around making sure everything was kosher.

Todd and his Teachers Quorum posse organizing a game of Hide & Seek. These guys are so cute, so good, and they adore Todd. He loves his calling.

We're not the strictest chaperones.

We spent the next day at the aquarium and the coast with our friends, Bryan and Rachel, and their kids.  We rode the ferry and saw some cute little towns and ate some fresh seafood (I peeled shrimp for the first time, ew). The previous week was glorious, but this weekend was too cold to stay on the beach very long, let alone get in the water. It's still pretty cool that we can even think about going to the beach in April! We love this NC climate.
