Paris 7: Adieu, for now.

Our last day in Paris, Dad and I went to Hermes while everyone else rested at home. Dad bought Aunt Catherine a scarf there years ago and she loved it. She is doing chemotherapy, so he thought she'd love a pretty new scarf. I even got exactly what I wanted-- a little Hermes gift box! I'm not really into Hermes, but I love their iconic orange boxes with the horse and carriage logo.

That afternoon, we went to the Pont des Arts (which I had sadly confused for the Pont Alexandre III) so mom and dad could leave a lock. Couples leave a padlock with their initials on the bridge's fence and throw the key into the Seine. Then maybe they are together forever? Or it ensures their return to Paris?

Whatever it is, mom and dad have it.

We ate dinner at some Chinese place and walked around the French Parliament (I think?). Such simple, beautiful sculpture gardens.

Dad, the Asian tourist.

I kept stopping to take pictures of random alleyways and streets... it seemed like every single one was beautiful!

The Pantheon was a really grand building, it seemed quite Italian. It is where Foucalt's first pendulum was demonstrated.

Several famous people are buried in the crypt below the Pantheon-- Victor Hugo, Marie Curie, Voltaire, Rousseau, Louis Braille-- and it's actually very clean and nice. Cait found a little alcove that lacked a statue, and Todd threw her up there. Right there by Voltaire's tomb. I am so glad nobody saw that.

-- LA FIN --

Going to Paris did nothing to satiate my desire to go to Paris. I want to go back this minute and every minute since we left.

I'm glad we got to see all we did on our first trip, but on return trips I'd like to take it easier. We want to eat better food, rent a car and meander through Normandy.
I would spend more time in Versailles, walk along the Seine at night, go to an antique market, go in a warmer season and spend a lot of time in gardens.

Todd would like to go up the Eiffel Tower, tour the whole Louvre, spend more time at Omaha Beach and see Utah Beach.
 Maybe someday!
