Most of my family (minus Richard) came to visit us for Easter weekend. My parents came for a Rush concert in Baltimore for their anniversary and my sisters tagged along. We met up in DC for a quick weekend of sightseeing. We did a lot in just a day and a half--a lot of my absolute favorite thing, walking around looking at stuff.
On Saturday, we went to the National Gallery, the Air & Space Museum, the National Arboretum, the outside of the Capitol Building, the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Korean War Memorial and the Vietnam War Memorial. That is a LOT of sightseeing for one day, but it was great!
Saturday was also Shelbey's 20th birthday so we had dinner at a nice restaurant on Pennsylvania Avenue. After dinner, we ordered dessert and Dad discretely told the waitress that it was Shelbey's birthday. So she brought put a candle in Shelbey's dessert AND had the live jazz pianist play "Happy Birthday" at just the right moment. No line of waiters clapping and singing (thank goodness). Shelbey was so surprised. It was very classy and sweet.

Ah I love DC!! Those museums, monuments, memorials... can't get enough! And it's getting to be summer time out there soon! (hot and humid and crowded of course but SO great!)
PS love the classy birthday night for Shelbey! Perfection.
