One of the major disadvantages of not speaking Danish is having no idea what goes on around here. I spent my lunchtime wandering around the Botanical Gardens, totally unaware that the biggest storm in a decade was due that afternoon. Todd tried for the early train home, but it had already been cancelled. Between a map, co-workers, and me texting him routes, Todd made it home by bus in about 90 minutes (the trip usually takes about 30). The trains were stopped the next day because of trees on the tracks, so Todd worked just from home.

We went to the Copenhagen temple for the first time. It was great! We were in a Swedish session, apparently, but had our little headsets for English translation and everything was just fine and peaceful, as usual.

I liked Frederiksborg Palace so well that Todd and I went back together.
We walked around the perimeter of the gardens and the woods--this abandoned house on a little island looked so much like the Petit Hameau. Maybe "Nordic Versailles" isn't such a misnomer, after all.
This is one of our favorite places in Denmark.

Church here is kind of the pits. It's tolerable for me because there is always translation in Relief Society, and the one member of the Relief Society presidency who is ever there always tries to include me. Todd is basically ignored. There are only a handful of Elders and they all speak English, but they don't talk to him and begrudge translating (or refuse).

It is getting dark here so early--4:15 already! It's mostly comical, since we'll only be enduring it for a few months. So our a Friday night date/walk to Nyhavn and Amalienborg Palace around 6pm took place in complete darkness. We really like the palace plaza at night, it's nearly always empty (aside from the royal guards). How cool is it to go for an evening walk at one of the local palaces? Europe.

We went downtown again... this time, to Strøget. We went in a few shops and got some good chocolate and raspberry flødeboller at Magasin. I was a little obsessed with the colors of the decorations at Illum. I'm pretty okay with not having Thanksgiving... more Jul!

Those decorations are beautiful! I'm sorry church is hard. I guess it's good it's only a short time.
