honeymoon: part one

we stayed on the seaside cliffs of easter puerto rico at the beautiful el conquistador resort. this is the view from our room. tough life, right?!

our first adventure in puerto rico was to el yunque, the only rainforest in the caribbean. the view from this torre was beautiful!

we took a really nice hike to this waterfall, "la misa." the whole hike, we could hear the bird and the "coqui" frogs singing. todd jumped in and went behind the falls... i thought the water was way too cold.

after driving through el yunque, we drove back to san juan to visit the old town. our first stop was one of the old military forts. puerto rico is known for these little guard towers called "garditas." there are only 5 original garditas left in san juan, and this is one of them.

the view of the ocean was awesome.

i like this face. silly todd.

i loved old san juan. the cobblestone streets, the wrought iron, the colors... it was so beautiful. i wished we had my scooter to cruise around on! we ate our first and last authentic puerto rican food here, at a little hole in the wall the lady at the rental car place recommended. todd didn't mind his seafood paella, but i doubt i'll ever eat mofongo again. by some miracle, we didn't spend the rest of the trip in the bathroom.

I love old San Juan. We ate at a weird place there too. Maybe the same one.

hahaha, ya hispanic countries like to trick you into thinking their food is going to be fabulous, just like mexican food - and then you always hate yourself for falling for it! It looks SO beautiful, what a great trip!

i have pictures of adam at those exact same spots at the lookout tower. we were there over night after a cruise a few years ago. took a 3 hour rain forest tour. the bus broke down. we survived. it was beautiful!
