October 1
The leaves in the city have started turning! The ivy leaves, anyway.
While the ivy is fully red, the trees have hardly any yellow.

One of my favorite things to do in Copenhagen is to visit parks. We found my favorite (so far) between watching sessions of General Conference: Frederiksberg Have. It has a castle and some other charming little buildings, bridges, lakes, and pretty trees. (Including a tree where kids leave their pacifiers when they're ready to give them up. That one's weird.)

I'm not a fan of multi-colored houses in America, but somehow they're adorable in Europe. This street is right across from the post office. I mailed a letter for the first time today-- I was so helpless, I didn't even know where to get an envelope. I'm gaining so much empathy for immigrants/expats/non-English-speakers in America.

Every October, Copenhagen has a special "Culture Night," where a lot of museums and sites stay open late and there are lectures and activities and events all over the city. We visited Amalienborg Palace and the Opera House. I don't know why the opera didn't hire me on the spot...

Todd has missed having a car since day one, but it took me all the way until mid-October to miss it. He ate something bad on our date Friday and was out of commission on Saturday, so I went on a solo adventure to Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød. The leaves were so lovely. And I wished for a fall drive.
I read somewhere that Frederiksborg is considered the "Nordic Versailles." It's beautiful and I really liked, but it is no Versailles. I'll compare it to the real thing next week. :)

Todd and I have started running around our local park, Kildevældsparken. ("Started," meaning "twice this month.") The trees are now fully golden. This weekend will probably be the peak time for fall color here, but we will be in PARIS!
