We kept Todd's 30th birthday celebration simple. We get to travel all over Europe together this Fall, that's the real party! I surprised him with a donut "cake" at breakfast and scallops + risotto for dinner.
His birthday was on Wednesday, youth activity night, so one boy's mom got a little gift basket and made a funny shirt to have Todd's quorum sign (which references the fact that he missed church last week because he was so badly sunburned). Todd saw all the boys whispering and blocking his view of part of the hallway, so he went down to make sure they weren't getting into trouble. The boys were literally jumping on Todd and pulling at him to keep him from going down the hallway.
We finished birthday week with dinner at a new restaurant downtown and a walk in Joyner Park. Yes, North Carolina really is this lovely. The first tropical storm of the season had just come through, and the park sounded like a jungle and was all foggy and green.
Todd left for Copenhagen this afternoon-- his first trip to our future temporary home!
