This weekend, we checked out the state farmers market in South Raleigh (bought peaches), drove out the find the temple in Apex, hit the driving range, and tried Carolina BBQ.
I'd learned from a previous exchange with a native Southerner (very "Who's on First") that "Bar-B-Q" in the South does not refer to a method by which something is cooked nor a social gathering involving grilled or smoked food. "Bar-B-Q" means smoked pork.
The menu had no information on it and we ended up ordering a feast for eight, including a mounding plate of like 50 hush puppies. We looked so silly with all that food sitting in front of us (thanks for stopping us, waitress). And it was gross.
I "Liked" the Charlottesville page on Facebook this week. Huge mistake. Here are some of the photos they've posted in the past few days:

I miss Charlottesville so much. :( I never expect to love anyplace we'll ever live as much as I loved Charlottesville, but I really need to find something special in Raleigh. I suppose the main thing we have to like about it, thankfully, is Todd's job. It's so perfect for him. That's all I've got, for now.
