for my birthday, todd of course let me choose whatever i wanted to do. i chose going out to dinner, antique shopping, and monticello. i love federalist/jeffersonian architecture, so where better to go? thomas jefferson referred to monticello, his home, as his "essay" in architecture. he was self-taught, and monticello evolved with his taste and skill.

we learned that thomas jefferson was quite the horticulturist. i don't know what that enormous hanging squash thing is... but it was seriously more than three feet long.

when can i move in?
